Stonewall 40th Anniversary

Today is the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots that jumped off the modern GLBT rights movement.

While its been amazing to see the progress that the GLBT community not only here in Kentucky but nationally has made over the last 40 years, we still have a long rod yet to travel.

Today is a day to take stock in where the movement is now and visualize the type of Kentucky and the type of America we would wish to live in, then do whatever is necessary to make it happen.

Roasting Carla

Friday night we had the honor of roasting iconic activist Carla F. Wallace as part of a CFAIR fundraiser hosted at the home of Burt Greenwell.

We had a wonderful laugh-filled time thanks to our Master of Ceremonies Dan Farrell. The tributes came from various people in the Louisville's progressive activist community, Fairness Campaign Executive Director Chris Hartman and other friends of Carla.

One of the highlights besides our Master of ceremonies was Carol Kraemer's ode to Carla she entitled 'No Justice, No Pee', and previous roastee Eric Graniger's humorous peek into Carla's shoe closet.

We had a wonderful time and raised money for CFAIR at the same time.

C-FAIR would like to thank Burt Greenwell for generously offering his home for the affair. We do thank everyone who attended, who donated money, and who volunteered to help the event run smoothly.

We also thank the honoree, who has provided visionary leadership for all these years.

The roast will become an annual event as well, so stay tuned to this blog to find out who next year's roastee will be.

And Carla is insisting on getting first dibs in suggesting our next target.
